Marshall Camp

GEORGIA—Marshall G. Camp, 72, died early Thursday morning, Oct. 3, 2002, at his home in Georgia, Vt.

He was born June 3, 1930 in Randolph, the son of Eli B. and Iva (Smith) Camp. He was raised in South Randolph and graduated from South Royalton High School in 1948.

He was married to Sally Moses on Dec. 20, 1964 in East Bethel, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Marshall lived in the Georgia-Milton area since 1965. He had worked as an Orange County Deputy Sheriff from 1956-1966, for IBM from 1964 until retiring in 1987. He had also been an Electrolux salesman since 1971.

Marshall had been a justice of the peace, chairman of the Georgia Board of Civil Authority, treasurer of the Georgia Republican Committee. He was a third-degree Mason from Seneca Lodge #40 in Milton.

Since 1982 he was a Shriner from Cairo Temple, where he served as admissions chairman for Northern Vermont, Cellar Saver chief and treasurer, and Potentate in 1999. He was a 1992 Shriner of the Year, and a member of the Royalton Order of Jesters, Rutland Court #105.

Marshall enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and being with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sally M. Camp, of Georgia; a son, Brian M. Moses of Milton; a daughter, Cynthia I. Hackett of East Randolph; a sister, Majel Herold of Brookfield; a brother, Masil Camp of South Randolph; five grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private family services were Monday, Oct. 7 at the Vermont Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center with Rev. Martin Bascom, officiating. Military rites were provided by the Vermont Air National Guard, which presented the flag to Mrs. Camp.

Calling hours were Sunday Oct. 6 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph, where the Masonic ritual was given by Seneca Lodge #40 F&AM from Milton.
