'Herald' Played

Constructive Role

During the last several weeks our family has become unexpectedly and closely linked with your newspaper. It started with Martha Slater’s visit to our house and a long and animated conversation with her. The first article about my mother Anna Subach’s effort to become US citizen at the age of 90 appeared in The Herald on the same week – and since then we felt steady support and attention.

We deeply appreciate the interest and involvement of your newspaper in this significant phase of our lives. Martha’s role turned out to be indispensable, when she contacted Senator Leahy’s office on our behalf, speeding events up. When she joined us in Burlington for the Naturalization Ceremony, we greeted her as a member of the extended family.

As for the additional impact Martha’s articles had on our lives, we have met many people – on the streets, in the stores, through the mail—who share our pride and admiration for my mother’s hard work and determination. We are very grateful for all support and concern, and would like to extend to everyone our thanks and best wishes for the approaching holiday season.

During this time we shared our stories with many people living in different states and all over the world, and through the Internet, our friends and family members could read The Herald of Randolph. Thank you, Herald!
