Randolph Boys Open With A Win

The Guy Ghosts started their season opener with a bang outscoring the Northfield Marauders, 19-8, in the first quarter and going on to win the game, 57-44.

Adam Wilder lit up the scoreboard first and followed that with a steal that set up a hoop from Josh Howe. Northfield closed the gap to two, 5-3 before Randolph tipped in nine unanswered points.

Northfield outscored Randolph 13-11 in the second despite two treys from Phil Barry. The Guy Ghosts led 30-21 at the half time break.

After sitting for the second quarter due to foul trouble, Wilder opened the third stanza with a jumper, again followed by a hoop from Howe. Halfway through the third the Marauders cut the gap to 11, a margin that remained for most of the period. Randolph took a 46-34 edge into the final period.

Northfield held off the fourth with two hoops to come within eight before Howe broke the drought with a bucket. Wilder and Derek Stewart each nailed a basket, putting the lead firmly back into Randolph’ hands.

Howe ended the night with a double double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Wilder added 12, Barry 11, Tony Connolly and Stewart each had 3, Gareth Fabian added 2 and Ben Alicia 1. Connolly, Howe and Wilder each had a block.

Northfield’s high scorer was #31 Dan Shaw with 11.

The J.V. boys led 13-12 at half-time over Northfield but lost the game, 32-31. The high scorers were Matt MacAskill, who plays both J.V. and varsity, with 9 and Clark Parmalee with 6.

Randolph plays Peoples at home today, Thursday, Dec. 11 and faces Mt. Abe at home Tuesday, Dec. 16.
