All-Star Baseball Action

The 9 & 10-year-old Little League All-Star baseball team defeated Central Vermont, 7-6, Saturday, July 16, to earn a trip to Bennington. Randolph scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth after being behind for most of the game.

The All-Stars played in Bennington Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23. On Friday, nerves got the best of the young baseballers and they lost to Bennington, 18-7. Ryan Maxfield went three-for-three and was the catcher in both games; Ben Jickling went two-for-three. Josh Warner also had a single, as did Jacob Sprague, Ryan Brady, Mead Binhammer, and Aaron West. The pitcher was Mead Binhammer.

Randolph shook off the jitters in the second game and played a marathon eight-inning contest. Randolph scored a quick four runs in the first inning. The runs came from Ben Jickling, Jacob Sprague, Mead Binhammer, and Alex Gilbert scoring.

Bennington tied the game with four runs in the second and the game stayed tied until the eighth inning. Ben Jickling pitched the first six innings with Jacob Sprague coming in when Ben had pitched his limit. Ben had nine K’s.

Randolph’s Mead Binhammer made a great diving catch in the outfield that resulted in an out, but also put Mead out of the game with an injured wrist. Mead had two singles in the game. Alex Gilbert and Ryan Maxfield also hit singles.

Bennington broke the long-standing tie in the eighth inning to win the game, 7-4. The Randolph coaches report that it was a great experience for the kids and they made the long trip worthwhile.

Also on the team were Ryan Maxfield, Ryan Brady, Alex Gilbert, Mead Binhammer, Harry Dwinell, and Dylan Jacobs. The coaches were Kevin Thurston, Doug Sprague and Wally Caswell.
