Cecil Thompson

CHELSEA—Cecil C. Thompson, 84, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1921, in Chelsea, the son of Leonard and Flossie (George) Thompson. He attended school in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School.

On June 1, 1947, he married Eva Keyes of Brookfield. they lived all their married life in Chelsea. She died May 10, 1999. For many years, he worked for Cliff Hartwell’s Sawmill in Vershire and Flint Brothers Sawmill in Barre. He also worked part-time at the Chelsea Sewage Treatment Plant, drove a milk truck for Wayne Ladd, and mowed and dug graves for the Chelsea town cemeteries.

He was a member of the Frigid Frost Fighters Snowmobile Club of Chelsea. He enjoyed snow machining, Jeeping, deer hunting, collecting writing pens, going out to eat, visiting with friends, going to fairs and spending time with his wife, Eva.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife in 1999; a son, Francis L. Thompson, who died in the Vietnam War in 1969; three brothers, Harold Thompson, Kenneth Thompson and Floyd Thompson; and three sisters, Marjerie Kidder, Eva Thompson, and Ruby Thompson.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, from 6-8 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea. A funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rebecca Delzel officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either First Branch Ambulance Service, Inc., P.O. Box 74, Chelsea, Vt., 05038, or to the Vershire Fast Squad, P.O. Box 91, Vershire, Vt., 05079.
