Strafford Folk Series
Kicks Off Third Year

On Thursday, July 6, a Community Talent Night will kick off the third year of the summer folk concert series organized by the Universalist Society of Strafford. This event will get underway at 7:30 p.m. at the Universalist Church at the corner of the Justin Morrill Highway & Rte. 132 in South Strafford. For more information, call 765-4295.

The series will continue Thursday, July 13 with "Trio Formidable," featuring accordianist Jeremiah McLane, mandolinist and guitarist Adam Larabee, and percussionist Eric Platz playing original music with Quebecois, Celtic, Afro-Cuban, and West African influences. On Thursday, July 20, the "Sky Blue Boys," featuring Banjo Dan and Willy Lindner, perform old-time country music. Thursday, July 27 will bring a performance by "Tympanon," featuring Sam Moffatt, Jean Pierre LeDuc, and Mirelle Girard singing close harmony with hammer dulcimer, fiddle, accordions, and guitar.

August concerts will begin when "Wagtail," featuring Kristina Stykos, Suzanna Blachly, and George White presents an evening of high energy "new tradition" music, Thursday, August 3. Thursday, Aug. 10 will bring the folk singer-songwriter duo David Surette and Susie Burke, and on Thursday, August 17, Becky Tracy and Keith Murphy perform traditional and new dance tunes in English and French.

The series will conclude as it began, with a Community Talent Showcase Thursday, Aug. 24. All series events will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Universalist Church, and proceeds from refreshments will benefit the church restoration fund. For more information, call 802-333-4569.
