Fireworks Monday, In Randolph! When the Fourth of July comes on a Tuesday, it means a long, long weekend of celebration. It also means a welcome pause in the midst of the week. In Randolph, it means that the fireworks will go up, courtesy of the Randolph Fire Department, on the evening of Monday, July 3, and the parade will happen on Tuesday the Fourth, starting at 10 a.m., with music and food, and other activities scheduled for the municipal parking lot near the Municipal Building, directly after the parade. Chief Jim Krakowiecki requests that nobody park in the municipal parking lot that morning after 7 a.m. Main Street, of course is out of bounds for parking, but the lots on School Street (D&K lot), Summer Street, Prince Street and Pleasant Street are all open. And don't forget the duck race and the chili challenge. (See the supplement in this week's Herald for full schedule.) Earlier, the weekend gets off to a spectacular start with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra playing a concert, "Imagine That" on the spectacular setting offered by the Three Stallion Inn. The grounds open early for picnicking and this year students are free if they buy a ticket ahead of time. Also, Friday night is the first of four performances of the popular youth musical performed each year at Chandler Music Hall. You'll be amazed at the job these young folks do performing "Oliver!" Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings and Monday matinee. The Historical Museum is open both Tuesday and Wednesday this year from 12 to 3 p.m., and the Chandler Gallery concludes its well-received display of photography from around the world. (N.B. The Herald will be open all day Monday but not on Tuesday. Information and advertising for the July 6 issue should be received by the end of the day Monday.) |
