Post #3 Posts 1-2 Record During Week

Legion Post #3, Montpelier, suffered two losses this week, with only 10 guys against Addison on Saturday , 14-4, and 11 players against Waterbury on Sunday, 7-6, but they defeated Waterbury on Tuesday 4-3.

Montpelier played Waterbury in Stowe on Sunday in a nine inning game and lost, 7-6. Eli Sherman threw seven strong innings giving up just two earned runs.

Montpelier struck first in the top of the first inning. DJ Waggoner led off with a bunt down the third base line for a hit, and got around the bases on errors.

After Waterbury tied it up, Tim Grandy hit a double over the center fielder to bring Sherman in during the third inning. In the fourth, with two outs, bases loaded and a full count, Montgomery lined one to right field bringing in Thomas Jacobs from third. In the fifth Montpelier extended their lead to two by scoring another run. With runners on second and third, Jacobs hit a long fly ball to left field plating Sherman. In the seventh, with Montpelier leading 5-2, Waterbury hit a two-run homer to bring them within one.

In the eighth Waterbury added three runs to give them the lead 7-5. In the top of the ninth, with runners on second and third, Ethan Sylvain hit a grounder to the shortstop that allowed Sherman to score from third. However, with a runner on third Montpelier couldn’t score the tying run.

Waterbury on Tuesday

Montpelier played Waterbury again, this time at home, on Tuesday, defeating them 4-3. Sylvain pitched the first four innings giving up two runs. Cody Montgomery came in to pitch the last three innings giving up one run and one hit. Thomas Jacobs had a hit and successfully squeezed Thresher home from third base in the third inning. Simon Kribstock also had a hit. Cody Montgomery threw very few pitches in his three strong innings of work.
