Second Cup Café

Closes its Doors

Last week, Bethel’s Second Cup Café closed its doors.

It opened only five months ago, providing the village with a much needed place for breakfast and early lunch, as well as a site to meet for coffee and conversation. It was something that owner Jennifer Ankner-Edelstein felt was sorely lacking in Bethel.

In fact, back in January a survey on various town issues put out by the Bethel planning commission yielded a number of comments from residents and property owners wishing that there were a coffee and breakfast establishment in Bethel village.

Once the café opened on March 17, a lot of people did patronize it, however, Ankner-Edelstein told The Herald that the total volume simply wasn’t enough to justify the establishment economically.
