9/11 Remembrance Chelsea residents are urged to join their friends and neighbors Monday, Sept. 11 for a day of remembrance in Chelsea. Come to Chelsea’s North Common at 6 p.m. for a candlelight ceremony remembering fellow Americans who lost their lives or to remember the life of a loved one. Five years ago, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., ended nearly 3,000 lives and forever changed the lives of all who remain. A variety of speakers will recount where they were on Sept. 11, 2001. Dave Farnham will represent the Chelsea Volunteer Fire Department, Linda Kuban will represent the volunteer First Branch Ambulance Service, Ed Kuban will speak on behalf of Chelsea veterans, Tracy Simon will speak for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and Mark Richardson will represent the civilians and tell how these events have impacted the lives of each of these important groups. In 2002, Chelsea retired the flag in the North Common in remembrance of the lives lost a year after the events in 2001. This year, that flag will be on display again. Those attending are asked to bring their own chair. If it rains, the event will move to the Town Hall. For more information, call Doug Lyford 685-7758 or Tracy Simon 685-4532. ____________ |
