Radical Islamists Are the Problem

I noted Martin Getz’s informative letter last week about "Israel bashing" with interest. It contained much information not generally known in the greater Randolph community.

In the interest of providing additional information as to the root causes of escalating violence in the Middle-East and throughout the world, I wish to call attention to the following statistics/-information. The world population is usually represented as being about 6.5 billion. Approximately 19%, 1.2 billion, I believe, are Muslims who embrace the tenets of Islam. A very small percentage of this peace-loving Muslim population, probably less than 5%, are adherents of a radical version of Islam which views all other people as "infidels." While the percentage is low, the number may still approximate 50,000,000 adherents on a world wide basis.

From these radicalized Islamists come the followers of Osama Bin Ladin, Hezbollah, Hamas, Fatah, Al Queda, Palestinians and other Jihadists.

These devotees of radical Islam are not necessarily poor and uneducated. The perpetrators of 9/11 included college-educated men from Saudi families of means. These are not "mad" men and women. They are dedicated advocates of anarchy, lawlessness and cruelty as a means of achieving their ends, both religious and political. Probably not people you would like to invite to lunch.

These are people who create agonizingly complex problems for their brother Muslims, who detest their violent ways and are frequently tarred by their cruel undertakings. Therefore, I am confused when I read letters from people who have concerns about the "insensitive and inhumane" treatment of Hamas, Hezbollah and Fatah as well as Arabs who have recently reclassified themselves as Palestinians.

I wonder how many of them would like to have these beneficiaries of their concern as part of their social calendars on a regular basis. The results of this social interchange might result in a "blow-up" in a very literal sense. After all, such should be the "appropriate fate" of all "infidels," even those in Randolph, according to the rules of radical Islam.
