Kenneth G. LaFond SOUTHBURY, CONN.—Kenneth G. LaFond, 85, formerly of Hancock and Bethel, died Monday, Aug. 28 at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn. He was born April 21, 1921 in Mansonville, Quebec, Canada, son of the late George and Bessie Aiken LaFond. Before retirement, he was a tool maker for the Pop Rivet Division of the United Shoe Machine Company in Shelton, Conn. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Eastern Mandates, Southern Philippines and Ryukyus during WW II. He was a former member and deacon of the Shelton Congregational Church, in Shelton, Conn., and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Helen Turner LaFond; a daughter, Donna York, and her husband, David R. York, of Southbury, Conn.; three grandchildren, Shane York, Brett LaFond and Jeanine Hannon and her husband, Dirk; and one great-grandson, Champ Hannon. He was pre-deceased by a son, Lawrence LaFond; a brother, Lawrence LaFond; and a grandson, David R. York. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Bethel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 680 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton, Conn. 06484.
