Ernest A. Flint

STOCKBRIDGE—Ernest A. Flint, 86, died Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Mayo Nursing Home in Northfield, where he had lived for the past two years.

He was born September 4, 1920 in Stockbridge, the son of Walter and Alice (Davis) Flint, and attended Gaysville schools. From 1941-45 he served with the U.S. Army Air Force in the European Theatre and was in the Battle of Britain. In 1945, he married Mary Stone in Salisbury, England. She died in 1977.

He worked as a self-employed logger and was also the caretaker at Richard Bishop’s for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, raising orchids and playing cards.

Survivors include four nieces: Marge Turner of East Bethel, Louise Corliss of Braintree, Barbara Rogers of Florida, and Annette Brown of Barnard; two nephews: Theodore Rice and Robert Dorman, both of Gaysville; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by three sisters: Mildred Boutwell, Florence Rice and Olive Dorman; and two brothers, Otto and Alfred Flint.

Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 25 at the Fairview Cemetery in Bethel. Rev. Paul Dinger officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stockbridge Fire Dept., Blackmer Blvd., Stockbridge, Vt. 05772.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Day Funeral Home of Randolph.
