After reading "Rainville Makes Her Move In Run for Congress" by M. D. Drysdale (10/19), I feel as though I read a draft speech by the candidate on how important she thinks public service is. I expected an interview. I hoped for some hard questions of a person who thinks she is a suitable candidate for the U.S. Congress. For example, one question Mr. Drysdale might have asked her is whether she has ever asked herself: "Now that I, as commander of the Vermont National Guard, have deployed dozens of Vermont men and women to war zones in Afganistan and Iraq, should I stay in this job until I see as many of them home as safely as possible, or should I go on to something else?" I believe Martha Rainville should have "stayed at her post" until her national guard units have all gotten home. General Eisenhower waited until WWII was over until he ran for office. Am I wrong?
