A Bulldog
For the People

In the state house, there are 180 legislators who attend. But there are not that many who make a big difference. Sen. Mark MacDonald makes a difference.

A tough questioner and a hard bargainer, Mark is skeptical of simplistic solutions. He takes seriously his repsonsibility to be the public’s advocate and watchdog. In the Senate Finance Committee, Ag Committee, Natural Resources Committee or as chair of the powerful Rules Committee, MacDonald applies his intellect on our behalf.

He is well known for his tough cross-examination of lobbyists. His hard questioning invariably improves the debate over the best solution to tricky public policy questions.

MacDonald has a reputation for being a bulldog. Just as you can’t sneak a sunrise past a rooster, it’s pretty hard to scam a legislative committee on which MacDonald sits He doesn’t tolerate misleading or dishonest testimony. He doesn’t accept the "dog ate my homework" excuses. If a witness tricks him once with misleading statistics and Mark discovers it, watch out. That lobbyist better not be coming back for a second bite of the apple. Mark takes his watchdog role seriously. I’m grateful for that.
