Chelsea Girls Out in Qtrs. By Mary Childs The Chelsea girls took the long bus ride Friday, Oct. 27, to Ludlow to play third seeded Black River. Within the first five minutes the Chelsea girls knew they were in for a tough challenge, with the Presidents domination and control of the ball. Chelsea’s defense led by Mary Childs, Morgan Wadkins, Sam Bonasera, and Althea Spencer held Black River back. Chelsea went into the half tied at 0-0 and went back into the game with high hopes. Black River scored the first goal of the game shortly into the second half. Chelsea didn’t give up and they put a big effort into moving the ball up the field. Red Devils’ Marisa Osgood, Lindsey Smith, Robyn Kennedy and Kim Upham all made their attempts to tally a goal but the Presidents offense regained control and struck again giving them the lead 2-0. Chelsea continued to play, but despite their efforts they walked away with the loss. The Chelsea girls finished their season with a 7-6-3 record. ____________ |
