Rockettes Wrap-Up Season By Allyson Paquette As another Rockettes soccer season ends, many were anticipating a good outcome. The Rochester girls were seeded #1 in Division IV (teams maintain their original seedings throughout the tour-nament). The Quarter-Finals were held on Friday, Oct. 27; the four teams that came out on top were number one Rochester, number two Danville, number three Black River and number five Whitcomb. The Rochester Rockettes had a very strong passing game during the first half of their game versus West Rutland, with all three goals being scored within the first 40 minutes of play. Freshman Caitlin Cutting wasted no time by scoring only 3:40 minutes into the game off an assist from Erica Parker. Cutting had her second goal later in the first half with Rochester’s third goal being put in by older sister, senior, Sam Cutting, Goalie Jody Martin had 14 saves while Katelyn Nickerson, Westside goalie, had 21. Final Game It was a very sad ending for Rochester Tuesday when the Rockettes lost to the Hornets, 1-0 after 113 minutes of intense play. Rochester’s seniors are Sam Cutting, Kirsten Domas, Heather Gorton, Molly Harvey, Jody Martin, Erica Parker and Libby White. It was certainly not the ending anyone wanted for retiring Coach Sue Clarke who has built an excellent program during her years at the helm with her daughter Krystle as her assistant. It’ll be a fresh start next fall as a new coach inherits this talented team of underclassmen which includes Desi Bourassa, Sam Mishkit, Amanda Bowen, Krystal Bowen, Midori Cruikshank, Megan Harvey, Vanessa Mongeur, Kiersten Needham, Megan Pratt, Caitlin Cutting, Sarah Lanpher, Allyson Paquette and Jackie Potter. There are also eight well trained 8th graders who will be adding to the depth of this Rockettes team. ____________ |
