Second Orthopedic Surgeon Joins Gifford Medical Center

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Stephanie Landvater has decided to join Gifford Medical Center.

Dr. Landvater, who will see patients three days a week at Gifford in Randolph, complements long-time orthopedist Dr. William Minsinger whose practice will remain unchanged. He will continue to see patients four days a week in Randolph and remain the on-call orthopedist.

"It’s a warm, friendly environment," remarks Dr. Landvater on why she’s come to Gifford. "Everyone has been so welcoming and Gifford is a very positive environment in which to work. It’s progressive too. Hospital ideals keep up with changing medical times."

Dr. Landvater received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Her medical degree is from Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Mich. She interned at Spectrum Health’s Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids, Mich., completed her residency at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont in Burlington, and is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Her clinical interests include general orthopedics and sports medicine. She specializes in non-invasive arthro- and endoscopic surgical techniques. She also performs surgeries previously not offered at Gifford, including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, shoulder arthroscopy and endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery. Dr. Minsinger calls these new services at Gifford a welcome addition to what he provides through his practice.

"I’m looking forward to the collegial support in another orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Minsinger," Dr. Landvater adds.

Dr. Landvater is a wife and the mother of two teenage boys. She studied exercise physiology as a graduate student and was once a nationally ranked gymnast. She also operates a 168-acre horse-breeding farm and is an avid horseback rider.

Dr. Landvater has had a very successful practice in the central Vermont area for 14 years and is expected to maintain an office in Berlin while opening another office at Gifford in Randolph.

Gifford President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Woodin calls Dr. Landvater an experienced, "excellent physician, one of the best in the state in her field, whom Gifford and central Vermont residents are extremely fortunate to have. We are very pleased to have the opportunity  to support Dr. Landvater with her practice. She has been a real asset to central Vermont, and I know her patients are pleased that she is not leaving them and their community."

Prospective patients can contact Dr. Landvater at 802-229-2325.
