Anichini Styles the Beds
Of the Rich and Famous

When Europe's first seven-star hotel opens Dec. 7 in Milan, Italy, the sheets on the beds will be from Tunbridge, Vt.

The Anichini company of Tunbridge has been having great success recently, according to news releases, in partnering with luxury hotels around the world.

The company also announced its first line of toiletries, another extension of its Hospitality division.

The partnership with hotels works two ways. Anichini gets the prestige and revenue from placing its products in some of the world's great resorts. And the hotels get the prestige and beauty of the Vermont firm's unparalleled lines of fabrics.

On Oct. 20, Anichini announced it has been awarded the contract for linens, matelasses and terry for the Town House Galleria, Europe's first seven-star hotel, located in one of the most famous public spaces in the world—the glass-roofed shopping arcade between the La Scala Theater and Milan's huge cathedral.

The opening of the hotel is set to correspond with the beginning of the theater season at La Scala, perhaps the most famous opera house in the world, where most of Verdi's operas saw their premieres.

The Town House Galleria is the seventh property for the new luxury brand Town House Hotels.

According to Anichini, guests will have their choice of sleeping in Anichini sheets of satine, pure linen or percale. The beds feature goose down comforters and pillows, Italian matelasse coverlets. Anichini Turkish towels, velour robes and slippers grace the bathrooms.

Nicky O Chain, Too

A week previous, Anicini announced that it had been chosen by Nicky Hilton to supply the bed and bath linens for the first hotel of the Nicky O chain, a new luxury hotel brand where suites will range from $300 a night to $5000 a night for the penthouse.

The hotels will "draw on the family legacy and proven design prowess of Nicky Hilton," it is noted.

Nicky Hilton personally worked with Anichini owner Susan Dollenmaier to design signature linens for the new Nicky O South Beach in Miami. The hotel opens New Year's Eve.

The products will include Egyptian percale sheets, a Merino wool throw, and towels and robes embellished with Nicky's personal monogram.

"I'm thrilled with what we've been able to create," Nicky Hilton said. "The attention to detail has been amazing—from the finest Egyptian cotton to the ornate stitching on each linen and throw.

"It has been a true pleasure working with Susan and the Anichini team."

The second Nicky O hotel is planned for Chicago in February—also with Anichini linens on the beds and in the bathrooms. The products will also be available to purchase at in-hotel boutiques.

Fragrances

Just this month the company announced it is introducing a new line of bath toiletries as "a natural brand extension of our hospitality product offerings."

According to Davide Fanelli, president of Anichini Hospitality, the toiletries will be "evocative of warm Mediterranean nights" and will be available as shampoo, lotion, body wash, and conditioner. The products will be offered to hotels for their bath products and will also be on sale at hotel shops and spas.

Anichini was founded by Dollenmaier in 1986 in an old Tunbridge farmhouse, specializing with imported Italian antique linens. Other textiles were added later, including articles from Turkey, India, and Lithuania.

A retail division was established in 1995 with the opening of a Los Angeles store. Anichini also has stores in New York City and Dallas, as well as more close-by locations at the Powerhouse Mall and in Manchester and Burlington. The firm employs 90 people, half of them in Tunbridge, the rest around the world.

After 20 years, the company says, it is now "the leading luxury textile company in a global market."
