I would like to respond to Kristi Tate’s letter last week regarding the WNWSU business manager "switch." Kristi, you’re right! The past few years have been very confusing, in part due to the total lack of information and poor management provided by the business office. However, when I heard that Ollie Jacob had been hired, I was thrilled. While I was school treasurer in Hancock for almost three years I met with Ollie every two weeks to do payroll and payables. Every single month for almost three years I was given complete, monthly accounting reports. Every month! At year end Ollie came to the office and would close out the year and again I had complete financial reporting. I started working at WNWSU the week before Ollie left. It may help you to understand that in the past few years, apparently whenever someone left employment, they became a scapegoat for all the work that wasn’t being done by those who were recently in charge but no longer employees (I can personally vouch for that because I was one of the scapegoats for well over a year after I left…) I wish we were lucky enough to keep Ollie long enough to get the business office back in shape, but unfortunately, he has better fish to fry. Let’s just hope that the WNWSU board has learned something, and this time hire someone better qualified to handle the business manager job correctly. Joanne McDonnell Rochester ____________ |
