No, It's Not Audubon-

It's a Photo

Like many of our readers, who are called "Snow Birds," the great blue herons of Vermont fly south for the colder
months of winter.

Therefore, when Randolph Center's Ed Stokes showed us this stunning image of just such a heron in flight, we elected to print it as a holiday "hello" to our migrating readers.

This is an astounding photograph," comments Herald photographer Robert Eddy. "It's reminiscent of Audugon's famous prints and Roger Torrey Peterson's paintings."

Stokes actualy photographed the heron on the west coast in Coronado, Cal., last February. The bird is carrying a spary of oleander to its nest in a nearby torrey pine. (Photo provided by Ed Stokes)
