10 Year-Old Randolph Girl Plans 2nd Fundraiser for David’s House Ten-year-old Bridgette Draper will hold her second annual bake sale to raise money for David’s House this Saturday, Dec. 2 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Shaw’s Supermarket in Randolph. Last year Bridgette, who is now a fifth grader at Randolph Elementary School, decided it was her Christmas wish to raise money to help support David’s House, a facility where the families of children undergoing long-term treatment at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H. can stay. Bridgette, who likes to bake, is doing so every night this week, and will sell the accumulated goodies this Saturday. She has also added a raffle this year, selling chances to win a quilted wall hanging created by her grandmother, Veronica Draper. The wall hanging is on display at Central Supplies through Saturday and will be at the bake sale, where people can purchase tickets to win it. Each year the Draper family makes a donation to David’s house in memory of Bridgette’s cousin, Chelsey, who was treated at DHMC, but later died. Attending a bereavement group after Chelsey’s death, Bridgette’s mom, Kelly, met Dick Sears, whose late son, David, the "David’s House" facility is named for. She decided to make it a family project to help support the cause. If you can’t make it to the bake sale, you can still make a donation to Bridgette’s project, by mailing a check to her at 44 Central St., Randolph, Vt. 05060. Please make the check out to "David’s House." ____________ |
