Vermont Tech Names Menchini
New Academic Affairs Dean

Vermont Technical College President Ty Handy recently announced the appointment of Patricia Menchini to the position of Dean of Academic Affairs. As dean, she will oversee all academic programs at Vermont Tech, including the Office of the Registrar and all academic outreach activities.

"I’m thrilled and honored to be offered this position," said Menchini. "I look forward to working with faculty, students, and my colleagues in administration in this new role."

A long-time resident of Shaftsbury, Menchini has worked as a Vermont Tech faculty member and administrator since 1994 and served as the interim Academic Affairs Dean prior to this appointment. During her tenure at the college, Menchini has served as the Director of the Practical Nursing Program and Associate Dean and later Dean of Allied Health.

Menchini played an instrumental role in building Vermont Tech’s allied health program offerings, which include an associate degree and certificate program in nursing, a Bachelor of Science and associate degree in dental hygiene, and an associate degree program in respiratory therapy. All programs are in high demand by prospective students.

"Pat is a hard-working, dedicated leader," Handy said. "Her vision for the role of Academic Dean and the college promises to lead us into the future in a sensible, responsible manner—placing the quality education of our students at the forefront of every decision."

The announcement of Menchini’s appointment concluded a three-month search for a new dean, following the resignation by former Academic Affairs Dean Linda Lucas this past spring. A nine-member search committee reviewed applications for the position and invited Menchini to participate in open forums with students, faculty and staff in October.

Menchini’s appointment is effective January 2.
