Beverly Rogers

RANDOLPH–Beverly L. Rogers, 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

She was born April 6, 1916 in Brookfield, the daughter of Carroll and Julia (Luce) Wright.

She attended Brookfield graded schools and graduated from Randolph High School. After high school, she went to Burlington Business College (now Champlain College). She worked for Dr. Jennings in Randolph and later worked for the telephone com-pany in Brookfield and Randolph.

She married Woodrow "Bucky" Rogers on January 18, 1937, in East Randolph. They lived in Rochester Hollow before moving to Bethel in 1945. In 1998 she moved to the Joslyn House in Randolph.

After raising her children, she worked at the Hotel Emery restaurant in Bethel and at the Atlantic Diner in Royalton. She also had Bevy’s Snack Bar, which she ran in the mid 1950’s for several years. She was a member of the Bethel PTA, and enjoyed bowling at the Valley Bowl in Randolph and dancing. Her family was the center of her life.

Survivors include five sons: Edward and Reginald Rogers, both of Randolph; Gilbert Rogers of Randolph Center, Kenneth Rogers of Kingman, Ariz.; and Charles Rogers of Palm Bay, Fla.; two daughters: Sally Gilman of Bethel and Pamela Gendron of Rochester; four brothers: Maynard and Allen Wright, both of Randolph; Leigh Wright of Hawaii and Randolph, and Clarence Wright of Bethel; a sister, Evelyn Michalenoick of Claremont, N.H.; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1992, a brother, Vermont Wright; and a sister, Ola Hutchinson.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Day Funeral Home, with Rev. Kathy Eddy officiating. Phyllis Hawley was the organist. Rev Eddy shared remembrances from family members including Beverly’s daughter Pam, her granddaughter Nicole Gendron who had written a poem entitled "Grandmother," and her brother, Leigh. Rev. Eddy also read from a book written about Beverly (as a senior project) by Alychia Lemeaux. A time of fellowship and refreshment followed at the Randolph Area Senior Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
