Youth Chorus Performs
At Holiday Season

Isabelle Cone of Randolph and Katie Brobst of Bethel are among 15 young people who are singing as part of the Sounding Joy! Youth Chorus (Provided / Ramsey Papp)

The newest version of the Sounding Joy! Youth Chorus, conducted by Marjorie Drysdale, made its debut last weekend in a concert in Waitsfield, combining with a Mad River Valley chorus conducted by Andrea Bonamico.

Including both elementary and high school students, the chorus will also perform several numbers in Spanish on Sunday, Jan. 7 as part of a Sounding Joy! concert that afternoon at 4 p.m. at Bethany Church.

At the concert the Sounding Joy! adults will also perform folk-inflected Mexican music, with the help of percussion and steel drums performed by Scott Paulsen and Barbara Smith.

In a more classical vein, the Randolph-based chorus will sing Poulenc's difficult but strangely beautiful "Gloria" with Lynette Coombs at the Bethany organ.
