BRIDGEWATER—A memorial service will be announced in the near future for Joan W. Pearsons, 79, who died peacefully at her home in Bridgewater, December 23, 2006, after a steady decline in her health. Joan is survived by her longtime companion, Everett E. Towne Sr., and her cousin, Lyle Pearsons Jr., of New York. She was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Robert Pearsons. Joan will be remembered for her dedication of many years as secretary to the superintendent of schools and to her many positions held throughout her lifetime. She was an accomplished ice skater and she often spoke of the freedom she felt as she rode by horseback over the hills and valleys that surrounded her home. Joan was a devoted steward of her land and she worked closely with the Vermont Land Trust for the relocation of the portion of the Appalachian Trail that crossed her property and to assure the future care of her land. Donations may be made in her name to the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society or the VNA Hospice Organization. ____________ |
