Gifford Medical Center’s certified nurse midwives will see patients at the Sharon Health Center beginning in January.

The expansion has been made for the convenience of patients who drive from Sharon or even further south to visit Gifford’s midwives in Randolph.

"Through the operation of its health centers, Gifford’s goal is to provide quality care, close to home," said Gifford spokesperson Robin Palmer. "The expansion of midwifery services into Sharon is another opportunity to do just that."

Tanya Waters, certified nurse midwife said, "More women will now be able to choose holistic, personal care during pregnancy/birth from our midwifery team. We are also pleased to be able to provide women’s health care such as contraceptive services, annual well-woman screenings, and management of common women’s health issues in the Sharon area."

Certified nurse midwives Kipp Bovey, Amy Graf, Tonia Stevenson and Waters see patients in Randolph, Montpelier, and now Sharon on Fridays. Gifford now offers women’s health services in Sharon, Randolph, Bethel, Rochester, and Montpelier.

Additionally, ob/gyn Drs. Brent Burgee, Ellamarie Russo-DeMara, and Gailyn Thomas see patients at GMC’s South Main Street site in Randolph; Dr. Thomas sees patients at the Rochester Health Center; and Dr. Shelly Gasow, an ob/gyn and a family physician, provides a full spectrum of care at the Bethel Health Center.

For an appointment with a midwife in Sharon, call 763-8000. The Randolph and Montpelier locations offer appointments until 7 p.m. For an appointment in Randolph or Montpelier, call 728-2401.
