RANDOLPH—Dorothy B. Morack, 94, of West Charlton, N.Y. died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at the Menig Center in Randolph. She was born in Schenectady, N.Y. to Celia and Guy Bowers on February 3 1912. After graduating from Schenectady public schools, she completed the nursing program at Ellis Hospital in 1932. That same year, she married Marvin M. Morack. Tuhey lived in Schenectady and Scotia until 1948 when they moved to their beloved property in West Charlton. Not only was she devoted to her family, she traveled widely to visit them. She had many personal interests and was an involved member of her community. As a young woman, she sang in the Thursday group at Union College, and later with her church choir. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, and in later years, quilting became her passion. Her knowledge and appreciation of the natural world was imparted to young people in her work with the Girl Scouts. In the West Charlton community, she was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church. For many years, she organized the Christmas boxes at the church. She was also active in the Galway Central School, helped with The Yorkers, the PTA, and an early youth canteen, and was a member of the Glenville Hills Garden Club. She was predeceased by her husband and her two sisters, Helen Lachtrupp and Marion Waterhouse. Survivors include her three children and their spouses: Marlene and Leonard Sauer of Stevesville, Montana; Suzanne and Ronald Schoolcraft of Randolph Center; and John and Judi Morack of Fairbanks, Alaska; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the West Charlton Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Routes 147 & 67 Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. At her request, memorials may be made to the West Charlton Church, 1331 Sacandaga Road, West Charlton, N.Y. 12020; or to the Nature Conservancy, 200 Broadway, 3rd Floor, New York, N.Y. 12180.
