RANDOLPH—Lillian E. John-stone, 77, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington. She was born May 5, 1929 in Roxbury, the daughter of Wilbert and Florence (Dickinson) Thurston. She attended Roxbury schools. Following her education, she worked in the Roxbury area as a housekeeper. She married Merle Johnstone March 2, 1946 in Bethel. They lived in Windsor for 25 years, before moving back to the Roxbury Randolph area. While living in Windsor, she worked as a laundry attendant in Hanover for several years. She had lived at the Red Lion Inn in Randolph since 2004. She was an avid collector of moose of all sizes, shapes and types. She also enjoyed cooking and knitting. Survivors include her son, Norman Johnstone of Mt. Holly; two daughters: Patricia Pomeroy of Chenango Forks, N.Y. and Sheila Holmes of Brookfield; five brothers: Leon Thurston of Royalton, Stanley Thruston of N. Woodstock, N.H.; Wendell Thurston of Corinth Corners, Delbert Thurston of South Royalton and Armand Thurston of Dundalk, Md.; a sister, Neva Ellis of Onset, Mass., eight grand-children, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held May 5, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Broad Brook Cemetery in Sharon. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assn., 77 Hegeman Ave., Colchester, Vt. 05446. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home of Randolph. ____________ |
