New Podiatric Surgeon Joins Gifford Medical Center

Dr. Nicolas Benoit, a specialist in podiatric medicine and surgery, has joined Gifford Medical Center.

Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Benoit comes to Gifford from a practice in East Syracuse, N.Y. He was educated in Iowa, receiving his bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose University in Davenport and his medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery; one of just seven accredited podiatric medical schools in the nation. His residency was at United Health Services Hospitals in Johnson City, N.Y.

Dr. Benoit comes to Gifford for its "team approach" to foot and ankle care, to bring more podiatric care to patients of this area, to be closer to family in Vermont and for the rural landscape, he says.

Dr. Benoit is an outdoors enthusiast who fishes, boats, snowboards, hikes, camps, plays football and enjoys landscaping and reading.

His medical interests include caring for patients with foot and ankle trauma, arthroscopic and endoscopic surgery of the foot and ankle, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, wound care, foot care for diabetes sufferers, sports medicine and general podiatry.

Dr. Benoit joins podiatric surgeons Drs. Kevin McNamara and Robert Rinaldi at Gifford, which is the primary source for podiatric care in central Vermont.

"I’m looking forward to Dr. Benoit joining us so we can improve access to care so patients aren’t waiting so long to be seen," Dr. McNamara says. "Dr. Benoit also comes to us with very good training. We’ve found someone who is going to provide a nice complement to services we’re currently providing."

Dr. McNamara notes that Dr. Benoit additionally provides a rear foot reconstruction surgery currently not offered at Gifford.

Dr. Benoit is available in Randolph at 728-2490. Dr. McNamara sees patients at Gifford’s Randolph and Montpelier podiatry practices and Dr. Rinaldi is at Gifford’s Sharon Health Center.
