Gifford Names Jeanne Goss New Volunteer Coordinator

Jeanne Goss of Randolph has been named Gifford Medical Center’s new volunteer coordinator.

Goss comes to Gifford with extensive knowledge of the workings of a hospital. She previously worked at much larger State University of New York-Stony Brook University Medical Center as the chief executive officer’s administrative assistant.

Goss has made Randolph her home since 2003 and been a dedicated volunteer to the town since. The handiwork of Goss and her husband Ken can be seen along Main Street each Christmas season and they string all of the holiday lights. Goss has been a Gifford volunteer, a member of the Auxiliary and is now volunteering with the town of Randolph to map the ancient roads.

"I love being here, and all of the people I’ve met, and I truly mean all of the people I’ve met, have been wonderfully supportive," said Goss of joining Gifford. "This is one of the nicest places I’ve worked."

Goss replaces Elaine Soule, who recently retired after dedicating six years to Gifford. Soule remains a Gifford volunteer.

Gifford is currently looking for volunteers, who are essential to the hospital. Available volunteer positions include helping with coffee hour Saturday and Sunday mornings in the Menig Extended Care Facility, running the register in the cafeteria three weekday mornings, helping deliver patient meals, greeting visitors in the hospital’s spacious new visitor entrance and working in the gift shop, as well as other opportunities.

The hospital is looking for committed individuals. Background checks are performed on volunteer applicants, and volunteers are asked to be appropriately dressed and groomed. Gifford volunteers earn free lunch on the days they work and are honored annually at a special appreciation luncheon.

If you too would like to help the hospital and make a difference in your community, call Goss at Gifford Medical Center at 728-2324 or e-mail jgoss@giffordmed.org.
