10^th Grade Fencer Heads to the Junior Olympics

     Shona Sanford-Long, a student in tenth grade at the South Royalton School, will be packing her bags and heading to Denver, Colo. next month to enter the fencing tournament at the National Junior Olympics.

     The Chelsea boys hosted South Royalton last Monday and came away with a 39-37 loss. The game was a defensive contest with neither team allowing a lead of more then two or three points.

     Last week the Chelsea girls came out strong in the first minutes of play to build a lead against South Royalton. Unfortunately, the D-III powerhouse overtook the Lady Devils and Chelsea would never lead again as the Royals rolled to victory.

     Rochester’s Iron five Junior Varsity team put on a show Friday night as they won on the road against Sharon. Coach Krystal Clarke guided the rockets to a 34-24 victory.

     The Randolph girls played a much more intense game Tuesday on the road versus Oxbow. The Gal Ghosts used team rebounding, good passing and fairly even scoring to take the win over the Olympians, 55-49.
