Lady Royals on Win Streak

On Thursday, Jan. 11, the South Royalton varsity girls continued their winning streak with a home game against Whitcomb. It was a close game, with a final score of 42-36. The Whitcomb team played extremely well, making the SoRo girls work for their win.

The top scorers for South Royalton were Mairi Lamson with 14 points and Jane Manby with 10. Tracy Zisselsberger led Whitcomb with 15 points.

SoRo’s next game was against Chelsea on the 16^th and the Lady Royals got another win. The girls put up a tough defense, and an even tougher offense, which resulted in them maintaining a large lead for the entire game.

Callie Jozefiak led South Royalton with 15 points, followed closely by Manby with 11. The top scorer for Chelsea was Heidi Hatch with 10 points. The final score of the game was 56-28, SoRo.

The most recent game for SoRo was at Peoples Academy on the 20^th and it resulted in another win, 48-33. Chelsea Wilmot and Mairi Lamson were the stars of the game. Wilmot led the offense, making three or four spectacular steals and scoring 14 points during the entire game. Lamson kept up an amazing defense, grabbing nine rebounds and scoring 10 points.

Jozefiak, however, was the lead scorer on the South Royalton side with a total of 15 points. The top scorer for Peoples Academy was Shawna Nichols with 14 points.

SoRo’s next game is at home on Thursday, Jan. 25, against Rivendell at 7:30 p.m.
