Ward Whitlock

RANDOLPH—Ward Whitlock, 58, of Randolph, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born November 12, 1948 in New Haven, Conn.; the son of Manson and Nancy Whitlock. He was raised in Bethany, Conn. and graduated from Windham College in Putney.

He married Janet Randall in Walpole, N.H. in 1970. He had worked for his father at Whitlock Typewriter in New Haven, Conn., and was an auto mechanic and small engine repair specialist. He and his wife moved to Randolph from Brattleboro in 1974, where he built their home.

He served in the Vermont National Guard from 1970-77. He was a teacher at Randolph Area Vocational Center for 21 years in the Diversified Occupations then the Recreational Agricultural Mechanics programs. He worked summers for Randolph Parks and Recreation, and had worked for Alan’s Car Service in Randolph. He was a problem solver who enjoyed inventing and creating, and loved working on older cars.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Whitlock of Randolph; sons, Dale Whitlock of Middlebury,and Brian Whitlock of Randolph; a daughter, Jennifer Hancock of Manhattan, Kansas; his father, Manson Whitlock of Bethany, Conn.; a brother, William Whitlock of Stanford, N.C.; a sister, Patricia Beckwith of South Kingston, R.I.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3 at Bethany United Church of Christ in Randolph, with the Rev. Kathy Eddy officiating. There are no calling hours.
