Zeb Allen’s 19 points, 15 boards, and eight blocks helped lift Chelsea over Blue Mountain in boys’ basketball action January 24. Chelsea came out slow in the first quarter enabling BMU to take the lead halfway through. At the end of the first quarter, Chelsea went on a scoring streak to lift them to a 24-17 end of the quarter score.

Chelsea dominated from that point on. Jesse Blondin powered the offense with drives to the basket contributing 19 points. Chelsea went on to win 65-51.

Loss to Sharon Academy

Next door neighbors Sharon Academy and Chelsea went head to head last Monday. Sharon went home with the 64-56 win but Chelsea didn’t go without a fight.

In the first quarter, it seemed that Sharon was going to walk away with the game as they had a 21-9 led at one point. But Chelsea’s Branden Emery hit several threes and Zeb Allen dominated in the paint to close the gap. It was Andrew Richardson who drove in for a lay-up, made it, drew the foul, and made his foul shot that gave Chelsea their first lead of the game. With Chelsea’s impressive comeback, they held the lead 33-30 at halftime.

In the second half, Chelsea continued to dominate the boards and hold their lead strong. Going into the fourth, Chelsea led by four points.

Sharon Academy picked up their offense and defense in the fourth to tie the game up 51-51 with six minutes remaining. The game was up in the air as the lead went back and forth. With one minute left in the game Sharon held a slim 58-56 edge. Chelsea was unable to score in the last minute and Sharon slipped away from them by making their foul shots.

Allen led the Chelsea Devils with 26 points and 10 rebounds; Emery added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Chelsea’s record drops to 7-4 and they hosted Twinfield January 31.
