Honor Your Own Creativity

At the White River Craft Ctr.

There is still time to honor your own unique creativity and put the winter blues behind you by signing up for classes at the White River Craft Center.

To register call 728-8912 or go to www.whiterivercraftcenter.org for photos of class projects, information on instructors and to download a registration form to be mailed to WRCC, 50 Randolph Ave., Randolph Vt. 05060.

Classes

•Felted Hat: Sat., Feb. 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. It’s magic! A little bit of wool can be turned into felt by working it with warm soapy water. Come learn how this amazing process works and make a colorful one-of-a-kind hat. Bring any fun yarn you have if you would like to incorporate it into your creation.

•Shaker Oval Boxes: Saturdays, March 3 & 17, 12 Noon–5 p.m. Learn to cut the distinctive swallowtail joints and bend an oval Shaker box. Material for two nesting boxes and lid will be provided. Parents are encouraged to bring one child at no additional cost.

•Watercolor Basics: Sundays, March 4 & 18, 2-5 p.m. Learn step-by-step basic skills and techniques as you paint-along side the instructor. Finish several small paintings to take home. Bring your own materials if you have them, or call for a supply list. Small sample kits are also available to borrow from the instructor.

•Floor Cloth: Tuesdays, March 6, 13 & 20. Painted floor cloths provided Early Americans an alternative to carpeting and are a practical and beautiful solution for floor decoration today. Learn how to design, prepare and paint canvas for use as a durable floor covering. Students may us a stencil or their own design in colors of their choice. Students will take home a floor cloth of approximately 40" X 36".

•Bobbin Lace: Tuesdays, Mar. 27 and April 3, 10, & 17, 6-8:30 p.m. First time students will learn the basic stitches and techniques used in making Torchon lace. Advanced students can use this time to fine-turn their skills on a project of their choice.

•Build An Adirondack Chair: Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Make your own comfortable Adirondack chair in a day or make a double chair settee for an additional fee. For this class you need to sign up by early April in order for instructor to purchase materials.
