I am writing in support of re-electing Neal Fox to the Bethel selectboard. He has faithfully served Bethel for six years, five of them as Chair of the selectboard, taking most of the "heat" for local problems. He has been a big part of the reason that Bethel’s municipal tax rate has had modest growth in recent years. He spent considerable time and energy leading the selectboard in getting the town’s share of the new bridge reduced, saving the Town of Bethel nearly $300,000. He is well known to many Vermont state officials nad deals with them regularly in his daily work. He is also active in the Vermont League of Cities and Towns which is a big help to the local selectboard. Candidate Hemond’s desire for "the selectboard to approach the town hall restoration with more urgency and vigor" meant spending more money and spending it faster. His criticism about the Board’s failure to maintain the police cruiser fails to recognize that there was no one available to drive it when we didn’t have a qualified constable. The necessary repairs cost $650±, nothing more than overdue maintenance. It would be a real loss to Bethel if Fox is not re-elected. Bill Richards, Selectman Bethel ____________ |
