Whitcomb Boys Win
By Laurie-Jean B. Gauthier

"Good things come to those who wait" and the wait is finally over as the Whitcomb Hornets earned their first win of the season with a 12 point advantage victory over the Cabot Huskies last Wednesday, Feb. 7 at home.

Tied 24-all at the break the Hornets returned in the third with a strong defensive period garnering 14 points while limiting Cabot to 8, and then went on to claim the victory 57-45. Husky Zeb Lester was game high scorer with 20 points followed by Hornet Mike Ennis with 14. Hornet teammates Brian Ward and Damien Russo both scored 11 points in the outing.

Looking for their second win of the season, Whitcomb traveled to Craftsbury and faced the Chargers in their only meeting of the regular season. It was almost happened but a buzzer-beater by Craftsbury at the end of regulation sent the game into overtime and the Hornets were unable to overcome a three point difference losing 84-81.

Both teams played hard from start to finish and both teams had four players reach double figures. Whitcomb was led by Scott Killian with 22 points followed by Ward with 20 points, Russo with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, and Nathan Tipton with 10 points.

Whitcomb played at Chelsea last night and plays their last home game and Senior Recognition this Saturday at 5 p.m. They finish the season at Rochester on Tuesday against the Rockets.
