Another Opinion On Suspensions

Recent events in and around Rochester involving the removal of two students athletes from their respective sports teams reminds me that New Englanders love a good witch hunt.

Instead of a kind word of advice and an opportunity to provide some guidance to her athletes, a Rochester coach snapped pictures on her cell phone and demanded the removal of two student athletes from the sports program. An opportunity to steer some students towards making positive choices was lost so that due punishment could be meted out.

What have we learned from all of this? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. But witch hunts sure are a lot of fun, aren’t they? That is, when it’s not your turn to be the witch.
