Don't Forget Our B&Bs "A Collection Of Positive Ideas" was the headline for Peter Magoon’s letter to the editor on Feb. 1, and I was glad to read it. Naturally though, I thought the part about needing "a good mid-tier motel near Exit 4 to handle any overflow of guests", from the Three Stallion Inn, did our local Bed & Breakfast’s a disservice by implying there is nowhere else to stay. May I remind Mr. Magoon, and others, that there are two B&B’s right here in downtown Randolph, and a few others very nearby? Our occupancy rate is close to 21%, leaving plenty of rooms for weary travelers. We, The Three Stallion Inn, Shady Maples B&B, and others, keep each other’s numbers handy to refer overflow inquiries. Many of our guests walk downtown to eat after having been in their cars for hours. Those who want an upscale dinner are referred to The Three Stallion Inn restaurant. Most of our guests have not stayed in a B&B before, however, because of no motels nearby. They find they are delighted by the experience and many say that after this they will seek out B&B’s during their travels. We have WIFI and air conditioners. We adjust our stated breakfast times to meet the special needs of people here on business. We also adjust our rates for guests in town for funerals, a family member in the hospital, or other reasons. We invite you and your partner to stop in some day. Also stop in at Shady Maples. Enjoy seeing the inside of these beautiful old homes. And, we encourage you to send visiting friends and relatives to our established local businesses. Evelyn Sweetser Sweetserenity B&B Randolph |
