Pittsfield Town/School Meeting: School Mtg. Date, Clerk’s Office Pittsfield voters will gather Tuesday, March 6 at 10 a.m. at the Pittsfield Town Hall for their annual town and school district meetings. Following election of a moderator, who will oversee both meetings, the school district meeting will get underway. In addition to having their say on the recommended budget of $768,172 for the 2007-08 school year, voters will be asked to consider Article 5, which asks if the annual school district meeting be changed to the first Wednesday in May, beginning in 2008. They will also have to elect a school board member for a three-year term. A lunch break midway through the day will be organized by members of the Pittsfield Church. During the town portion of the meeting, voters will elect 14 town officers, including a selectboard member, lister, auditor, trustee of public funds, three cemetery commissioners, and two library trustees. Other to be elected include a first constable, second constable, grand juror, town agent and collector of delinquent taxes. Article 7 asks voters to authorize $20,000 to be placed in the office building reserve fund for renovations, expansion or building of a town clerk’s office to meet ADA requirements. Articles 8 and 9 ask for $10,000 for the highway equipment reserve fund, and $8,600 for the purchase of a new town mower respectively. Article 10 asks approval of the proposed town budget of $395,844.35. ____________ |
