Interfaith Caregivers (IFCG) have been helping our senior neighbors remain safely independent at home since 1987. This year we celebrate our 20th year of service to the community. Bill Markle’s recent letter to the editor hits home—seniors‘ homes. Bill and Mary were truly blessed to have the early warning of a carbon monoxide detection system in their home, and the benefit of being warned that they needed to move to fresh air immediately. Sadly, not all senior homes have this capability. We strongly encourage area seniors to participate in "Homes-Safe-Home," an injury prevention program to reduce the risk of falls and fires at home. Seniors ages 60 and up that live in Central Vermont are eligible for a free home safety checkup that includes the installation of up to three smoke detectors and one carbon monoxide detector. Please call Interfaith Caregivers at 728-2347 for a free home safety visit. The call may very well save your life. Sandy Singer Randolph ____________ |
