Explains Interest
In School Board

Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself to the citizens of Brookfield and explain why I have chosen to run for school director. Please note: it is common for citizens of Brookfield to refer to this office as school board member, but that is not how it appears on the ballot.

First, I have four children, three of whom have attended the Brookfield School. During the course of their Brookfield experiences, I have had the opportunity to work closely with their teachers and administrators through my work on the School Club and my work on the education action plan. My youngest child is in the second grade.

I would like to continue my affiliation with the Brookfield School to ensure that all students are having the best education we can provide. At this time, none of the other school directors has a child in the school. These members are conscientious, and are doing their best to represent the interests of the school, the students and the community. I think having a voice of a parent on the school board of directors would help to promote the needs of the students more directly.

Second, I have experience as an educator and hold my master’s degree in nursing education. I have a good understanding of the quality of education Vermont students receive having been responsible for teaching in a first year college curriculum since 2000. I believe that through careful attention to the way we teach student in elementary school, we have the potential to create life-long learners.

I look forward to serving the community of Brookfield in the capacity of School Director. Please feel free to contact me with questions or suggestions. I can be reached in the evening at 276-9919.
