L. Farmer To Compete
At USASA in April
Logan Farmer, 11, of White River Junction, has qualified to compete at the United States of America Snowboard Association nationals in Tahoe.
Logan is a fifth grader at Dothan Brook School in White River Junction. He started skiing when he was three, and took up snowboarding when he was seven. At age 10 he joined the Core Team at Whaleback Mountain, coached by Peter Thorndike, Olympic and World Cup Snowboarder. This is the first year Whaleback has had such a team. Logan competed in the Central Vermont Region and earned enough points in Boarder Cross to qualify to compete at the nationals in Tahoe, from April 2-6. The top 10% or 50 of the skiers or snowboarders for each division (slalom, giant slalom, slope-style, boardercross, etc.) and age are qualified. Logan will be one of 50 kids, ages 10-11, from the US to compete in boardercross at the national level. This is a great honor.
Logan is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. Logan has also raced Motocross for four years, both in Derby and Canaan, N.H. He also plays football for the Hartford MiniCanes who went undefeated last year. Logan ran track for Hartford in 2005 and 2006, and won both the 100- and 200-meter at the Vt. State Hershey’s Meet for his age group.
His grandparents are Solange and Peter Rea of Randolph Center and Ed and Linda Farmer, formerly of Randolph, who now reside in Lyndonville. His uncle is Paul Rea and aunt is Karen Colby, both of Randolph Center. His mother and father grew up in Randolph and are Tammy and Roger Farmer, now of White River Junction.
