Earth Day
Brings Hope

The British astronomer Fred Hoyle in his 1950 book "The Nature of the Universe," said "Once a photograph of the Earth, taken from outside, is available … a new idea as powerful as any in history will be let loose … The New Cosmology may come to effect the whole organization of society."

Today many humans are New Cosmologists and the celebration of Earth Day has been one of the factors bringing this about. Certainly the large demonstrations in 1970 were significant. In 1990 many groups celebrated a 20th birthday, but by that time and in the 17 years since, we’ve been devastating the Earth and little is being said about it.

April 22 is America’s Earth Day. There are actions going on in April in this country that could help Earth.

On April 14, Bill McKibben’s Step-Up-Rally to do something to stop global warming took place all over the country. In the Quin-town Valley of Granville, Hancock, Rochester, Stockbridge and Pittsfield we are selling energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs for 99 cents.

American Dialogues, which circulates videos of American issues presenting a new way of looking at them with new information recently available, is asking all its supporters to show a video on the atomic bomb. They requested that the audience spend a little time discussing it.

This film will be shown at the Rochester library Thursday, April 19.
