John O. Flint

NORTH HAVERHILL, N.H.— John O. Flint, 69, died early Thursday morning, April 26, 2007 at Fletcher-Allen Healthcare in Burlington.

He was born May 4, 1937, the son of Harold and Inez (Baxter) Flint. He attended school in South Royalton and then went to work on a farm in Plainfield, N.H. He joined the service when he was 17 with the permission of his folks. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Panama.

Following the service, he went to work driving a truck for Petco in South Royalton. Later he drove for Crocker out of Fitzwilliam, N.H. He lived for a time in Winchendon, Mass. and Monroe, N.H. For a short time, he owned and operated his own truck. He also worked for at Dudley’s Garage. His last employment was driving a truck for Butson’s Supermarket. He retired in the mid-1990s. He spent some of his spare time helping Butch Elms at Bear Ridge Speed Way running the wrecker.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #20 in Woodsville, N.H. He enjoyed traveling, telling stories and playing cribbage. He loved his dogs and liked having little kids around.

Survivors include his wife, Louise F. (Sheldon) Flint of North Haverhill, N.H; three sons; Doug Flint of East Bethel, Dan Flint of East Bethel and Rocky Flint of Wininton, Mass.; three daughters, Rhonda Flint, Rena Flint and Renee Flint, all of Northfield; four step-sons, Duane Pray of Massachussetts, Eddie Pray of California, and Wayne and Michael Chaplin; two step-daughters, Debra Pray of Randolph, and Trina Chaplin; and 19 grandchildren.

Calling hours were held Sunday April 29 at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea. Funeral services were held Monday, April 30 at the funeral home, with Rev. George Hemway, pastor of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in North Haverhill, officiating. Following cremation, burial will be held in the River View Cemetery at a later date.
