Ben Metcalf Is Named
CFO of Dem Governors

Former Randolph resident and RUHS graduate Ben Metcalf has been named chief financial officer for the national Democratic Governors Assodiation (DGA).

The news came this week in a press release from Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who is the current chair of the DGA.

Metcalf was one of three new hires announced for the DGA’s political staff.

The overall goal of the organizaiton is "to expand Democrats’ majority of governorships."

The three new staff members will work to support the nation's 28 Democratic governors and this year's campaigns in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Mississippi, Gov. Sebelius said.

The release noted that as financial officer, Metcalf’s role is to "make sure the DGA uses its resources efficiently and is compliant with state and federal laws."

Metcalf comes to the DGA from America Votes, where he was the national budget director. He has held leadership positions with numerous campaign organizations including America Coming Together and Dean for America.

Metcalf earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is the son of longtime Randolph Elementary School Principal Steve Metcalf, who was just appointed Montpelier superintendent, and of Cindy Metcalf of Bethel, a former chair of the state Democratic Party.
