Causes Turmoil

I have just read the Herald article (5/3/07) regarding the special school meeting May 1st.

No matter what you (school board members) do regarding the name change, you have put yourselves between a rock and a hard place. Half the town wants no change at this point and the other half are lukewarm at best.

No matter what you decide for the new name, there will probably be a petition brought to call another meeting and rescind whatever you have done.

Also there have been concerns expressed regarding the board changing meetings to only four a year.

If the board feels that meeting once a month is not what they want to do then perhaps this board needs to decide if they should continue to serve, as this has been the practice, monthly meetings, when they were elected to serve by the people of Bethel.

Having lived in this town for over 40 years and seen many ups and downs in the school system, it is hard to see such turmoil caused by this board.
