On May 2, the Randolph track team traveled to U-32 for a big meet with many other teams. This year competing for the girls in the 100-meter dash are Amy Richburg, Holly Mugford and Danielle Galbreath. Richburg finished the race with a time of 16.18 seconds, following close behind was Mugford with a 15.22, and Galbreath finished with a 19.14. Running in the girls’ 200-meter were Mugford and Galbreath. Mugford finished in 35.02, and Galbreath had a 41.78. Running long distance was Allie Byrne in the 1500. She ran a solid 6:37.3. Mugford also competed in the shot put and javelin at U-32. Throwing a 26-03.5 in the shot put and 80-07 in the javelin. Also throwing javelin is Seth Dezan. Dezan threw a 103-04 at the meet. Dezan also competed in the 100 and 200-meter races as well as the long jump. He pulled a 12.46 in the 100, and a 25.00 in the 200, and in the long jump he got a 14-07.00. Burlington Invit. This past Friday and Saturday the team participated at the Burlington Invitational. The school has just finished a new track, and this was everyone’s first time running on it, including Burlington’s own track team. This was a two-day meet due to SATs Saturday morning. Since the club started, Coach Ginny Richburg has kept track of the individual team records of each event. Last year many new records were made, and this year many of those records are being proudly broken. Amy Richburg has broken both the 100 and 200-meter records from last year, both held by Rachel Jarvis. Currently the record to break is 15.9 for the 100 and 35.0 for the 200. Also having the honor of new records is Allie Byrne. She broke the 800-meter record with a 3:01.6 at U-32, and has taken over the long jumb record with a distance of 10 feet, 4 inches. Continuing the girls’ streak of record breaking times and distances is Holly Mugford. Mugford reached a record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 70 seconds. Seth Dezan is also breaking records, this year for the males at the school, In the shot put he threw a 29’ 7" and a 113’ 7" in the javelin. The rush is on to qualify for states this year. Mugford has already qualified for both the javelin and the shot put. Dezan has also qualified this year for the 100, and is hoping to qualify for the 200-meter and the javelin. ____________ |
