Calling all singers! St. John's Church of Randolph announced this week an all-day "Feast of Singing" workshop in June featuring three wonderful choral leaders who will share their vast and varied choral experiences and their love of music. The June 9 workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m at Chandler Music Hall and will feature choral leaders Peter and Mary Alice Amidon and Susan Dedell. Space is limited and pre-registration required, the organizers said. During morning sessions, the three will work with all of the participants together. This will include Gospel music, spirituals, old hymns, music from the oral tradition, shaped note, as well as the African, Russian and Latin American traditions. After lunch, Peter, Mary Alice and Susan will lead individual sessions. The three afternoon sessions are: "From Gregorian to Gospel"; tracing the ever changing styles of singing throughout the centuries: "Scripture into Song"; including original musical settings of Psalm 126, the Noah's Arc story, and the verses on love from Corinthians: "Love Call Me Home"; Songs for Hospice, Healing and Crossing Over. Each of these sessions will be repeated so that each participant can attend two of them. Lunch will be provided by the people of St. John's and is included in the registration fee.
